the perfect cup of tea
is kindness
made when someone least expects it
whether it’s a simple
teabag and milk concoction
or precious minutes spent
watching over a pot of boiling water
while Assam tea leaves unfurl
and full cream milk is blended in
generously
whether it’s rose pink or jade green
served in steel tumblers, fancy mugs
or dainty cups
it is the polite reassurance
that things will be ok
your body will heal
your mind will recover
just stop
sit down
here
have a cup of tea
