Things I Enjoy Seeing



O the pleasure of loosening things and
the knack of fastening things again gently!

See the elder of two men securing
a bin on the side ledge of an unwavering truck,
after the co-worker, young and impatient
has hoisted it there without the due checking;

see a mime's elbow on a fireplace mantle,
his hand's minimal dangle becoming a smile,
a sweet earthquake of wit in the physical act
of suspension - a thankfulness from the feet up;

see any craftsman's alertness of care,
the quick savvy joggles into a tight fit of things;

see a Chinese dancer's earth energy swings
in her spiraling outward, back inward with
sways like a skylark's through various climes -
o her smooth-spoken feet, the politeness

of showing and hiding! See a bird flutter
and briefly alight, with an accuracy forcing
delight. And, o the still dreams in things
fallen in place through precision and patience

to a close not a close - a silence in syllables
going hello and goodbye, spelling grace!
