Ruth Beresford Poems

Where is my heart?
The sun is shining, birds are calling
My heart is with you
But I long, long to belong
...

You are the light in my life
The sunshine in my heart....
The whispers in the dark of promises to keep
You are my love, my only love

Lost And Found

Where is my heart?
The sun is shining, birds are calling
My heart is with you
But I long, long to belong

Strange sounds invade my senses
What, what is that noise?
Hadeda? No! this is not home
Not the savage burning African sun

Tears well, throat closes, mind cries out
Comfort, I need the comfort
My own, mine, the space called home
The wide open vista

Where is my soul?
It, s entwined with it, s mate,
Locked in an embrace of love
Trapped, yet soaring high

The wide expanse of blue
This same azure sky, calls
Take me back, let me go
But that world is no more!

Where is my love?
Here, here is my true love
My man, I adore, cherish
As a precious gem gently held

The lush green, turning slowly
Autumn coolness wraps around
Leaves falling ever gracefully
Replaced by sweet birdsong and spring

A new life, a new beginning
Strangeness turning to sameness
Where is my life?
Starting.........
starting with hope and love
