A Message
Something inside me pulls me beneath the surface,
makes me vulnerable and despite looking at it clearly,
i'm unable to recognise its face.
I feel possessed, ravaged by a wildfire
that spreads deep in my mind
and wounds me with my own desires.
I cannot figure it out, yet it feels like a creation of my own
feeding itself the dark flowers of apathy
whose seeds from the hands of my beloved, had been sown!
As it unravels itself, it begins seeming faintly familiar
yet its aura of indifference is unrecognizable as it draws near.
Despise fills its heart, a place which had so much love before.
this remnant of a beautiful relation calls for help once more.
Now it dies and rots, inside the cellars of our ego
its enormity indicates how high it had been
and its hollowness, how much has it stooped low.
Its ghost wanders tormented in the shadows like a thief,
unable to set itself free from the chains of false promises
and whipped by persistent yet frivolous displays of grief.
It possesses me for one last time,
whispering in my ear that it has one last wish to make.
That before it becomes a part of my memory & my mind,
it asks me to hear out its tale.
A simple one it is, about its inception and its end.
Narrating to me how diverse and extreme emotions could its existence once blend.
I listen to it attentively, swinging with the seasons that it speaks of,
i cannot hide my smile when there is joy all around it
but it puts me in tears when i see it near the evening of its life.
It becomes weaker as it takes me deeper inside its story
yet it continues, making me wiser
and revealing the intricate path of life, love and glory.
It says it has a final message to give
to someone it calls its mother who had brought it up in her own hands,
with a hope like that of a child, that she would value its scarce words,
and for once try to understand,
one last lesson that has to be brought out by its untimely death.
It fumbles as it says 'No matter how much there is love inbetween,
and when you see that despite all the grimness it continues to retain its sheen,
Don't think that bereft of care and nourishment, it will still grow.
Among all the wisdom of the world one thing that you should know
that it needs time and attention to survive.
It says, as it breathes its last, that no matter how strong a relation is,
if not attended to, it will choke and eventually die.
