Breaking Free

I've been hiding for far too long,
Thinking that I need someone to find me,
Never realizing that I am powerful enough,
To overcome all odds and be who I was meant to be

You can catch a glimpse of me here and there,
You can see my light peeking through and my hope shining bright
You see this glow on my face that tells of my joy and my strength
You see my smile and know that at that point, I am truly happy

Yet, like many things, it never lasts,
Because am human, I remember the parts riddled with shadows,
Because am human, I overthink of what's not meant to be,
Because am human, I get overwhelmed by negatives, forgetting positives

My heart is human, that will never change
As me, I have conviction to pull through, look back and see success
As me, I am motivated to walk in the dark and forge ahead into the unknown
As me, I believe that I am who I am, I will be who I choose to be

I am today's impulse, tomorrow's determination and celebration
I am the future, the greatest adventure, the achievement foretold
I am the best of me, no excuses, for I make none
I am me, I am human, I am strong, the chain breaker
I am who I was always meant to be, I am free
