Goodbye Lullaby

Tears fill up my eyes,
As I had to say goodbye.
I couldn't believe it,
The light in your eyes were no longer lit.
We all cried,
As you slowly died.
It felt like a dream,
More like a nightmare it did seem.
Tears came from your eyes as you looked around,
At everyone standing there, not making a sound.
We all had a chance to say goodbye,
Yet, we wanted to say; wake up in this bed from which you lye.
You were pale and cold,
But we did not forget you were bold.
It's hard to believe it, none of this can be true,
It's impossible because we truly love you.
I stare at the ground, myself unaware,
That your eyes gave me a distant stare.
You looked around one more time,
Before you saw the steps in which you would climb.
You were gone,
The whole day just felt so wrong.
So, we'll say to you a goodbye lullaby,
As you slowly drift to the sky.
