The Lady In Gray

Sometimes in the midst of winter
I wish that I had that certain mister
By my side when I can't sleep
So I sit in my shower and I eternally weep.
Dreams of smiles
And walking isles
Seem so distant and obscure.

He says when he gets older, he'll wear purple
And I'll wear gray
To express the absence of May
Within my poor locked heart.
All my passion will surely fade
A lonely old woman, dressed in gray.
Wishing she hadn't forgotten
The importance of love
That she let go of her ambition
Then she wouldn't be in this distressful position.

Sometimes I wonder why I waste my thoughts
On these spiteful days to come.
I detest what you've done
To this once warm, loving soul.
I fight with myself
Almost too often
To figure out why I just don't
Why I just won't.
My heart's just so cold.
I try to explain
But all my attempts just seem all in vain.
I try to avid
That lady in gray.
Her heart is a void
That poor frozen soul
That is destined to be
The woman in me.
