Dublin born Séarlas came to be on a Tuesday night in early 2003. With a wealth of life experience at such a young age, the sky is the limit for this Donegal-based poet. You can find Séarlas on Instagram @searlasdeburca)
Bin
For fifteen frightening years
I'd been filled to the lid
with packets of crisps the flavour of
prawn cocktail,
empty beans tins and empty
cans and bottles of beer
day in and day out
like an endless abyss of rubbish
Time passed along with the
left-overs from dinners passed
and the swollen smell of grosness
began to linger wild
around the kitchen until it spread
to the living room
to the bathroom
to everywhere.
Then came the man that emptied me
like some sort of God
in complete control of how full I was
He smirked.
He grinned.
He laughed.
It was all fun and games
poking around the waste and
messing with it
By the end,
I was nothing
but empty (ready to be filled again)
