Engrossment

Like the ephemeral yet diamond-bright summer
of the distant North Pole,
or like the glistening teeth of an African smile,
these star-studded nymph nights
across the celestial heart
never belonged to me.

Eye-glaring beauty of the tulips at the spring yards,
the fireworks of varieties of fall colours
also cease to belong to me soon after I blink.

The sickle-shaped third-phase moon
rising from the ice-melted cavern in darkness
does not give me a smile of reaping, either.

I'm still falsely engrossed in these colours, scents, and lights
allured by their enchanting watery pictures.

Only the flute of heart that lives at the childhood distance
still whispers to the ears of kans grass,
swings and takes me back to the forgotten paths
in the wavy melody of classical symphonies.
Its tune doesn't go off in gust,
nor do its lyrics disappear in the time-stream.
Sticking to the branches of the sacred fig tree
as juvenile sleep of a winter dawn,
they melt into the body of darkness
as stars of the summer sky.
