Lost In Love

I was left with shackles on the shore alone
with my dry eyes blinking to resist a moan,
trying to stop the deep flowing from inside
as your boat sailed mercilessly off my side.

The tides of the ocean of sorrow in my heart
rising over the cliff as you started to depart.
Not just an ocean it was – the volcano preserver
with the turmoil from within to vent its fervor.

To my utter grief, you tended to disappear,
the crying that came out, I couldn’t bear.
Suffering of adieu was no doubt intolerable
though I told myself that it was inevitable.

Still, I stood on a lonely rock on the coast
in the hot sun like a piece of bread in toast.

I was freed suddenly from the tight shackles,
but my legs didn’t move expecting no miracles
and all my senses said no to receive and give
as your boat disappeared asking me to forgive.
