Overcome

you were wrong when you said that we would never overcome
but given the ability of insight and oversight in actuality our journey has just begun.
the stage has already been set for our sons and for our daughters,
they no longer have to live in a section called the black folks quarters.
we have beocome doctors, lawyers, nurses, officers anything we set our minds to be
even the one thing that you thought would never go down in history
yes i'm talking about being over a nation who has despised us, critizised us, and told so many lies about us.
we did not get here by being cowards or pretending to be dumb
given lesser jobs but, more qualified than some
my brothers, my sisters we have, we have, yes we have overcome!
