Reflections

You stare into your cast reflection
Of something you think has no perfection
You don't like what you see
Your insecurities won't let you live in peace

You step into the outside world and see such beautifully made creatures
You see so many perfect smiles, perfect bodies, such beautiful physical features
And you wonder why you're this way
And you pray for change day and day
Looking back at why these feelings started, you think the media is to blame
Portraying the most attractive models and making them gain fame
But they aren't flawless
And this you fail to notice because of your lack of awareness

Now listen to this; life isn't all about what you look on the outside; vanity isn't to cherish
You grow, you age, and then you perish
Outer beauty doesn't last very long
It's your inner beauty that does, so don't get that wrong
Do what you please as long as it's a positive deed
And don't get put down when people judge what they can see
Don't be fooled by the definition of perfection
It's inside what counts, and what you do that shows a better reflection

The next time you look at yourself in the mirror and aren't happy with what you see,
tell that reflection, 'You're only showing a minor part of me.'
