Stella Halliwell Poems

Twisted leaf falling
disintegrated faith,
in the echoes calling
stars fading in your wake.
...

Failing me the words doth keep my lips
Cloaking all tenderness dwelling deep
Reverie claws from the realms of listless
Dearest wake me not from sleep
...

Bequeath thy name to a reverent heart
Solicit fair games; cast thy favour
Bow to the last of roses
Petals curled and bloodless, still,
...

Of late
Sunlight seems to kiss, intently
the naked branches of trees
drowning bark
...

If I should sleep
And never stir
Holly crown my head
Gown me in a robe of blue
...

Yield your lips to mine
So my heart may soar
Into the inky sky
To shine as the brightest star
...

Shadows athwart the glassy veil
Polished shards grasp at light
Deception winds through tireless bowers
Spectres of the wood slip by
...

In the sobriety of a winters eve
I rested ‘neath a bare browed oak
My body fell to lucid dreams
Whence a voice called to me
...

Luscious flora in my dreaming
Quivers gently in the light
Thick leaves the long stems adorning
Waltz a myriad of voices bright
...

10.

O’ rose so beautiful
So forsaken and yet
Filling all the world
Each fine petal laden
...

Fragile

Twisted leaf falling
disintegrated faith,
in the echoes calling
stars fading in your wake.
Songs of pleasure ringing
sounding in heathen ears,
in my decadence
I am fearing;
nothing will remain.

And I am twisted
clutching at the wind,
a reverent lullaby catches,
only to let me break.
Careless little fingers
crush my fragile spine
holding me together,
to whisper at me coldly;
holding me together
by a whisper
just.
