I Knew You Were Out There

I knew you were out there
Waiting for me
As I looked at the stars at night
Wishing that there would be

Someone who completes me
And makes me whole
Loves me unconditionally
Making my heart full.

And then there you were
In the midst of all my pain and confusion
In a time in my life where falling in love
Would be worse than a head contusion

You stood there with your arms open wide
Your beautiful deep brown eyes searching for my soul
Quietly reciprocating the fear that maybe
This could be the one who would make me whole.

The reality that I have loved you from the first moment
Makes me fear the vulnerable state of my heart
Amidst all of the chaos and ferment
Entrusting you to hold that special part

I knew you were out there
Awaiting my return
To love and to care
To cause my heart to burn.

I love with you with my whole heart
Openly and without hesitation
You make my heart beat
With rapid trepidation

Maybe we are meant to be
Or maybe we changed the course
But whatever is the case
This is nothing we need to force.

I love you!
