I am the former Research Coordinator to former Prime Minister Bruce Golding. My professional responsibilities included dealing with his parliamentary matters, researching information to advance policy decisions, as well as writing his messages for publication in newspapers, magazines etc.
I am also a Guest columnist for Jamaica's leading newspaper 'The Gleaner', with strong focus on political and social issues. I recently delved into writing poetry and my first poem 'Life' was published in The Sunday Gleaner and was designated Poem of the week on January 5,2014.
I am currently writing what I like to describe as a 'light book.'
I give you my heart
But you keep ripping it apart
I give you my trust
Yet you treat me so unjust
...
Like the yellow-yolk sun that shines ever so brightly
Breaking the cold and dreary period of winter
Melting the white carpet of snow
Wrapping us snugly in its warmth
...
When nightfall casts its dark eerie shadow
And slowly caresses our eyelids shut
Images play upon our closed minds
Sometimes good, sometimes not
...
Like the rhythmic sensuous sounds of a drum
My heart beats for you
Beats leaping with fervent excitement
At the mere shadow of your face
...
I reached for the key in the pocket of my heart
To unlock a door closed from peering eyes and wondering “whys? ”
Clenched in my fist is the key
That will break down a barrier mounted for my protection
