Opening The Closed Door Of My Life Poem by Suzanne LeslieBailey

Opening The Closed Door Of My Life

I reached for the key in the pocket of my heart
To unlock a door closed from peering eyes and wondering “whys? ”
Clenched in my fist is the key
That will break down a barrier mounted for my protection
From judgement, condemnation and misunderstanding

The door looms large
Almost bursting at the seams
With hidden secrets, hurts and broken dreams

The clicking sound of the key heralds a new beginning
My now unclenched fist reaches for the tarnished handle
Of the closed door of my life

The loud rumbling sound of my broken relationships, disappointments and failures
All tumbling out of the once closed door of my life
Is like music to my ears

Lying at my feet bare, within the public glare
Are all my life lessons
That I am now willing to share

These steps are not easy to take yet we know we must do so to move on. My feet too are bare and it is now time to build the next puzzle of life. Remembering all that we achieved and be proud of this. May you smile for all you have achieved when you open that door. Thank You
