A House As Dark As Night

A long, bone-white cobblestone path led to
A house as dark as night
The bloodstains on the path
Hidden by the dark

The lack of moonlight was terrifying
The cold breeze chilling him to the bone
The sound of footsteps on fallen, dry leaves
Approaching him from afar

There was no way to escape
There was nowhere to run
He was trapped there while
An enemy approached

He felt something hit the back of his head
Liquid as cold as the night ran
Down his face, from his forehead
He fell face first onto the path

His blood splattering all over the path
His body was limp and lifeless
Footsteps on fallen, dry leaves
Walked away without another word

The body lay there forevermore with
No one to find it
Alone on the cobblestone path
In front of the house as dark as night
