Play Ground Insults

The kids in my bio class always come up with great insults such as:
Stupid head
Poopy idiot
Dumb chicken
But they have a new favorite insult
Gay
When some wears a shirt they don't like they say
That shirt makes you look gay
When someone does something they don't like they say
Oh my gosh you're so gay
When something happens that they don't like they say
That's so gay
And I want to stand up and tell them to come up with a better insult
But I stay seated because if they think gay is an insult worse than stupid head or dumb chicken what will they think of me.
When they are daring someone to do something they say
Do it or you're gay
But why is being gay so bad
I want to stand up but I stay seated
Because if they think being gay is so bad what will they think of me
When someone falls over they laugh and say
You're so gay
With every word I feel my self getting pushed farther into the closet.
I don't want to be gay in a world that thinks being gay is the worst thing you can be.
They say
That's so gay
And they say it like it's a bad thing
I miss the days when classroom insults were harmless
I miss the old insults
I miss stupid head and dumb chicken
I miss the days when my sexuality wasn't an insult
I miss feeling like I'm not alone
An estimated one in ten students at every public high school are gay
That means there are at least two other gay kids in my bio class
But we all stay seated
We all stay silent
Because over night gay has become the worst insult
How can we stand up when we know that we aren't wanted
It's hard to be gay when everyone thinks gay is the worst thing that you can be
It would be easier if they just found some better insults
