I

Like a star
You twinkle above on topmost high
Shining bright like the diamond you are
Many find gold and silver but diamonds are for a chosen few,
They are forever
You have brought me into the ranks of the chosen
My past you have turned into a burning bright joy
You found me lost at sea and showed me the way home
A stranger, you taught me things I never knew.

Like a star out there in the dark skies
You stand out
You read my palm
I know the future;
There was one star
There are now two that shine as one.

II

I never knew the words I love you
Could sound so good till you uttered them
Anytime you do say them
Everything's all right
The heartaches, the tears I've had
All just melt away.

I searched the world for a little compassion
But came to naught
Then you came along and said the magic words
Now all I want is you
To be with you high above the world
Where dreams are born.

You shine in my darkness
And shieled me from the rays
My shelter from the rain

All I want is you.

III

It's dark outside
From the distance I hear a bird chirrup
The final notes to its song
I hear a lonely cricket in a prayer for companionship
I see mother-hen call back her chicks to roost.

I want to come back home
But the distance is so great
When I get there it will be light again
So I sit by this candle light
Aided by the willing muse to convey you
To my presence.

I see you now
Like a flower in full bloom
I feel the silk of the petals
The fragrace takes me to secret regions
I taste the nectar
I taste you.

IV

Cursed like in the old tale
I hop from pillar to post a frog
Seeking my princess charming
Her kiss alone will banish my misery.
Will I find my true love?

I searched time after time, day and night
In every nook and cranny
Till I am weary with grief
Then I look into the mirror
And a prince charming is looking back at me.

I look beside me and there you are
My princess
You've just kissed me.

I spend my dream with you
In this jungle of aloneness
Far away from any place
Ever inching nearer you.

It's you and I on the magic carpet
Cruising unknown realms through gleaming galaxies
Where stars are born.

It's you I'll see when I wake up
To the coming true of my dream.

VI

Tonight
There are fire flies in your eyes
The stars of heaven uplift my gloom
To glorious galaxies.

Tomorrow never has to be
There's nothing else I want to do
Except gaze at the stars
And wish on my falling star
For a part in your hopes.

I will wait
Till this dream unveils clouds of promise
And rains them like blessed showers.

On cloudy mush
Of giddy affection
High into the dusty regions of haze
Through thunderbolt
Flash and rumble
Sentient torrents of dormant heresy
Overfly the ever erupting banks of time
On borrowed wings of gold
Destined for the same crossroads.

VIII

Drizzles endless
Recounting tales of yesterday’s stolen kisses
Above the clatter we scream to be heard
Aware true love is for others.

Rain gets you wet
Feeding an ocean of tears long shed
For claims laid on sites long mined
Digging still that left for stranger and widow
For bird and beast.

Breaking into a cold sweat
Of table flow-oozing lava
A heated stream
Solidified into what is past
And to come.

I’ll find you.


IX

After the leaves fall of the trees
In the silent park
And the soft ground beneath our feet
Nestles close its cloying quilt
Will you still be enamoured by me?
Will our love have died
And decayed with the falling leaves?
Or will we still be sitting here warm and close
Holding hands comforting each other
Against the heartrending news
Of changing weather, lovers, times?

You are the drug
I’m the junky
And baby I’m hopelessly hooked.
My eyes glow
Trance-like I gaze at you
And see visions of exhilaration
And deep peace.

Your absence brings me shivers
In the teeth gritting of my dithers
I say a prayer
To convey you to my presence

You are here now
Vertigo plagues me
Gravity has no power over me
I fly high ensconced in your wings.

You are the drug
And I’m the junky.

You speak of love in riddles…

The scream of silence
A puzzle of lost pieces
A weakness adding to strength
A change in the air
Like undecipherable whispers.

The caress of warm oil
Remembering a thing long forgotten
Permitting no sign of decay
A perfect picture eluding mortals
Like a gift of half of life.

Eyes on moving shadows
A part in a mating dance
Born in the embrace of old arms
A long hidden secret revealed
Like ecstasy.

Like you my love.

It’s been six days and six nights
And I know the deafening sound of silence

It opens my heart
Like a music box
But renders dissonant tunes

I hear your footsteps
Slowly come up the door
Door of my heart

I feel the smooth tug of our hug
The blissful hiss of our kiss
The flow and tide of our lovemaking

I hear your voice
Through your smile
Which lights up my day
Like a sun

Sounds of that silent night
When you sealed your lips
To protest my misdemeanour
Still echo like a hurricane
In a mountain pass

Six days, six nights
And I know some things are
Meant to be remembered.

The moments go by
Thoughts of you fill my heart
A bubble blown into the air
Bursting not

You are
Beat of my heart
Pupil of my eye
Most beautiful of women

My love for you will never waver
I’ll remember you forever
