Tigest Samuel was born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. She studied social science at the open university of United Kingdom. Though this is some of her registered work, she ventured into writing when she was only fifteen years old to follow on the footstep of her grand father Mr. Mathewos Bekele, who was a well known play writer in Ethiopia. At the moment, she works and lives with her two children in Rotterdam, the Netherlands aspiring to touch the heart of others with her art.
Introduction from the poet:
I love words because words are just like a well crafted key which can open the doors of freedom of our soul very easily. When I started writing my aim was to be an author but slowly as I begin to notice the reaction of my readers, I realized how powerful well spoken words are. I started to use it with the divine intention to voice for the voiceless, to create awareness for victims who are in the dark, to preach about love with out hypocrisy and to touch the heart of many by talking about our everyday experiences as a human being in this cruel world.
I intend to use words to express love (the ultimate gift of God for humankind) . I intend to be free and help others gain their strength to find and fight their own demons in the struggle of life. I aspire to be connected to myself and others by continually destroying the barricades of hate in our divided society. The motivation behind my art is Love. Love embraces all people of race, color, gender and social status. My aim is to prove this cruel world wrong by loving unconditionally through powerful words and deeds. I live to love and I love because I intend to live meaningful and positive life.
In this short collection of poems, I tried to create awareness about some of the weeds that chokes our society in negativity. I tried to defuse hate with love, condemned abuse of any sort, talked about equality of different races, and discussed the pain of loss and death but most of all I talked about that unconditional love which humans inherited from God. Also, I tried to express about romantic love in all its dimensions and talked about the art of love making, self excitement and orgasm by deeply immersing my pen in the blood of romance.
My dear readers, we might have different features and cultural background, but we are all humans, mortal, with one simple goal and that is to survive, to succeed, to live, to breath and to manage this short life as best as we could. We are every nation. The only barricades, obstacles, blockage between us (humans) is Hate. Love sees the heart, hate sees the skin. Love sees possibilities, but hate sees negativity. Love covers multitude of sins, but hate exaggerates and echoes sins and present it for quick judgment. Love swims beyond borders, gender and race. But hate swims in narrow mindedness and suffocates itself in the filth of racism and prejudice.
The principle and value that I try to live by day to day is manifested in all my writings. And that voluble principle I am continually governed by is, a quote from the bible that my mother used to read for me frequently when I was growing up. It reads, “Treat others the way you want to be treated.” If all of us consider applying this beautiful and practical principle, I believe our society will change for the better.

I am a motherless child
The discarded
I, many times entreated
And argued....
...
Oh my love, oh your light...
A hunting spirit...
It is melting my heart...
By day it makes me well...
...
My king left me on Thursday
He called me evil and moved away
I was as righteous as I could be
I gave all he asked of me
...
My sweet heart....
If my love can be an iron,
I will build a fence around your heart,
Then no harm can reach it,
...
Oh Lord the heat
The shocking wave
Oh Lord the pain
The joyful ache
...
