The Last Breath

I sit in silence now,
Watching as you rest
As peaceful as a rainbow,
and as beautiful as a butterfly.

You wake, I stand
Gently you hold my hand and smile
Softly, you whisper the words I need to hear

Then as soft as a whispering river,
and as warm as the summer sun,
The Last Breath escapes your lips,
And I cry.
