For I will consider my cat Thomas
For she is the servant of nobody, duly and daily pleasing herself
For at the first glance of the glory of God in the East she watches the window at the rear
For then she clambers behind the chest of drawers
For though she is not agile she is exceedingly determined
For she can sit upon an eminence
For she watches TV
For she can hold a conversation about what she has been doing
For she can flounce if she is not paid enough attention
For she does not always finish her dinner, which annoys another cat
For she likes a snackette in the night
For she is easily spooked when eating, by ghosts only she can see
For she is affectionate, and can purr with great sweetness
For she does not mind being carried about
For she can sit on a lap
For is this done by wreathing her body seven times around
For then she gazes behind
For she is of the tribe of Tigress
For she is exceedingly fierce in defence of her yard, more so than another cat
For she can unravel a jumper, for she is a good unknitter
For she can box with another cat
For she can sharpen her claws upon the chair, which in goodness she refrains from doing
For she chases a leaf, but only when nobody is watching
For she shows patience in watching the grass, where voles might appear
For she can detect food at a great distance, especially from a delicatessen
For she does not like anything unusual - Poor Thomas! poor Thomas! a new thing has arisen
For she is tenacious of her comfort
For she can snooze upon a cushion
For is this done by resting her chin below
For she can decline to leave a lap
For she is acute in sensing impending departure
For she hates to ride in a carriage
For she can sit upon a high plantpot with elegant containment
For she can complain if things are not right
For she goes out in wind and rain, to sit beneath a carriage
For she walks the immemorial cat path
For she can suddenly appear in a high place
For though she can be timid around another cat, she can surprise with ferocity towards a dog
For she chased away the labrador who lives behind
For she can sit contained in compleat cat
For she can gaze philosophically upon a wall
For she can creak
