Our World

A land of drawn and sullen faces
from people still so young,
with every line hardship reads
of better times gone by.
Working from sun up till sundown
to earn one nights meal.

Children crying
crying for a simple meal of rice
to fill the empty space within.
Praying for a dropp of clean water
to quench away the thirst,
to wash away the distaste of the hovel
they dwell with in.

This happens while unappreciative
of the water which flows freely from our taps,
And the meals we set before us.
A soft bed we have to sleep
A roof to warm us when it is cold.

We see the misery but with a blink of the eye
it is gone and forgotten again.
How did it be
that we be the race so lucky.

The race so lucky we want for what we can't have,
we the race who has freedom
Is never happy with the life we have.
We the race who take for granted
the democracy in which we live.

Plenty of wise men spoke the words by which they lived
and died because they believed.
Many a child orphaned by war
because countries couldn't agree to disagree,
or share a simple luxury like land.
They die for religion
when one god rules over all.

But yet the child suffers for all our ignorance
he dies from our stupidity
he starves from our greed
He thirsts to be loved and accepted,
to be accepted as apart of a race
the human race.

So we should stop
we should listern
we should grieve for the injustice
we have put upon the chil
to make it a better place.
