His hair was wet, his clothes looked damp
The poor man seemed hungry and cold
He must have been sixty years old.

From where my life's journey began on the road to elsewhere
I have been in many towns in the big World out there
But of the places i have been to far too many to name
I have found people in most of their ways much the same

So many things in Nature for to write rhymes about
In this varied and wonderful Land of the south
A Land of many colors and amazing scenery
I can only marvel at the beauty every day around me

If somebody does write his life's story in book sales it would do quite well
For it would make for interesting reading and thousands of copies would sell
He has been in so many Countries and he has worked in many a town
And the wanderlust it is still in him perhaps he'll never settle down
...

They are well known travellers of the big World out there
A person from Ireland one could meet anywhere
From the North to the South Pole from Timbuctoo to Rome
They travel to places a long way from home.
...

Though I've done my share of travel I don't have much to show of Worldly gain
And 'tis been awhile and many Seasons since I've seen old Clara in the rain
And the fog crawl down the mountain on days cold enough to snow
And Finnow swollen by stormwater through the old fields bank high flow.

Does your past travel with you to where-ever you go
In your thoughts do old friends stop by to say hello
Do you go to the pub for the beer and sing song
With you from the past memories have come along
...

The lust of the wander in him is still strong
In any one town he feels he don't belong
He has shorn in the big shearing sheds in the wide brown country
And many more places for him for to see,
