Waking
I lay here awake.
My eyelids stretched open.
Not scared never waking,
But afraid of always waiting.
In my dreams I sleep forever.
Forever with you.
I will not wake.
I will not wake.
Not deprived of sleep,
But deprived of you.
For each hour I lay awake is an hour in vain.
And in my dreams
I hold your hand.
Knowing fully – it’s not your hand.
Because your hand rest,
Lying permanently on your chest.
Six feet under your eyes are fixed closed.
You will not wake.
You will not wake.
