Songs Of The Birds

With the breaking of the dawn,

I get softly swept away, swept away by your songs

I wonder, wonder what you sing

Essence of a beautiful day, is what your notes bring

Egrets air march to the beats given by the crows

Indian Rollers bring forth a great air show

the wirly wind, join in the chorus,

chorus to the songs sung by the seven sisters

Flycatchers whistle the most amazing three note song,

while the whistle of the Pee-wee echoes in my ears all day long

Branches of mangal, the old mango tree

swirl to the rhythm, rhythm of your melody

they swing and tap and twirl, to the tweet tweets

tweets of the swinging rejoicing parakeets

Passion of a love song can be heard in the koel's kukoo

but now its time, time for Mr. owl's couplets enclosed in his twerit twerwoos

home returning, swirling, singing birds think of me and you,

as they hit the heart touching chords with their sweet adieus

the Velvety sky brings with it, sounds of the sharp strings

with screeches of bats and loud alarms of Red wattled lapwings

Again you get me thinking, thinking of what you sing

hope of another great day, is what your notes bring

your songs of blessings, your hums and hymns

echoes in every corner of my house through your sweet chirpings

whatever it is that you sing,

levitates our hearts to new beginnings…
