Alone, Surrounded By Everyone

I feel like I’m standing on the side.
Not joining in,
Just helping from time to time.
I listen to others grief
And help when I can
But always
I keep who I am inside.
Friends with everyone,
But true friends with no one.
I’m alone
Surrounded by everyone.
Watching everyone laugh
I’ll join along.
But when someone cries,
I can only comfort them.
But if I were to cry,
They would only stare
Because I’m only laughing
When they’re there.
So to hide who I am,
I’ll throw it away
Casting my feeling out
When everyone’s away.
