For You, She Was

You walked in darkness
softly knocking at her heart's door
dead and closed it was,
with an epitaph that said:
"a heart lies still, no fooling around."

You said you wanted to give life
to love, to decorate, to celebrate
the birth anew; saying you were one
you created an illusion
where once there was none.

A melody of old was heard again,
of love and deception intertwined
as sadness spread languorously within
she spread herself to absorb it
weeping at once for a thousand women.

Among so many hues outlining her life
it is you she preferred,
for you she broke her walls high
for you she wept inconsolably
for you who was determined not to come.

You walked into darkness
as softly, leaving her heart's door
dead and closed for posterity to see
with an epitaph that reads:
"here lies a fool who has died once again."
