Friend

I see your smile
and it curls my toes,
drawing me near,
holding me close.
The air stills
and the music grows,
birds' clear song
to trees' swished beat,
the thunder of my heart
lending rhythm and rhyme.
Your eyes catch mine
and you wink hello.
Now my feet smile too,
and they start to go
and I'm flying now,
soaring to you
nothing stops me now,
I flow to you
on a silver wave
chiming sweet,
can't say no to my feet.
And you catch me near
in a hug so warm
I forget to breathe
and the world just stops,
it's you and me
no in-between
no anything else
just our scene
and your warmth
and all my love
in this one moment.
And your voice endears
my bursting heart
I hear no words,
but your lips part
in soothing motions,
rhythmic O's
catching my ears
as your lips move,
your hands in my hair
but no words come,
none to my ear,
only rumbling sounds
of someone dear.
I listen only
to your voice's sound
and lose myself
till I see you frown,
and laughter escapes,
loud and free
full and rich.
So full of glee
I can't control it
it flows right out,
the joy in my heart
through the sound in my mouth…
And you hold me
close, I feel
your heart-beat
drumming loud,
slow, but pounding
through my soul,
and I am found.
