Vigna Mukund

Vigna Mukund Poems

I could be out in the rain
Dancing with the drops, laughing with the leaves
Drenching with the grass, soaking with the trees
But I am here, watching
...

I throw bright light on the world at a sight
Which I borrowed from Sun, my brother
Sole lamps I fetch for the sky at a stretch
To show myself to Milky Way, my mother

Vigna Mukund Biography

Born in India, fell in love with poetry at an early age. I try to write poems as often as I can, and I like to translate poems from my native language to English, so more people can appreciate their beauty. I love criticism, judgement, random remarks and completely honest opinions. I feel the thoughtless and first-impression remarks have more meaning than carefully analyzed criticism.)

I Could Be Out In The Rain

I could be out in the rain
Dancing with the drops, laughing with the leaves
Drenching with the grass, soaking with the trees
But I am here, watching
A bag on my shoulder, a book in my hand.

I could be that tree, its warm brown against bright green
Ridges and wood, old and new
Rain water trickling straying filling, so pure and clean
Both reunite in the like leaves and dew.

I could be that grass, million strands all synchronized
Waving and dancing to the breeze
Not one betraying the other, beautifully linked
Drenching in the rain, moving with ease

I could be that floor, hard and concrete
Letting the pitter-patter fall on its back
And erase the dust, let off the heat.
So much relief from a drop clear and black!

I could be that hideous caterpillar
With no choice but to remain in the shower
None to stop it, none to judge it and
Can be as long as in the rain and longer

I am not a tree, I am not grass
I am not floor, nor a caterpillar
Just a human, with a bag and a book
While these are showered with the elixir.
