Knight And Lady

Let's commence and with God's grace,
Tell the story that took place
Long ago, no sense to search.
Fuzzy images emerge:

Armed, dismounted and knelt
Valiant Knight the bridle held,
Bowed before the finest maid,
Kissed her hand she softly laid.

‘Sweetheart Lady, I should move,
'Cause my feelings should be proved.
Say a word and I will ride,
Ride so far I've never tried,

Over mountains remote,
I'll find glory to devote.
Only bleeding, I believe,
A true glory can achieve'.

‘My beloved and gallant Knight,
There's no battle, there's no fight,
There's no scuffle, there's no war
Anywhere anymore.

There's no enemy, no foe.
There's all-over piece. Don't go,
Come to me, my honest Knight,
And the stars will shine so bright'.

But the call of pride was strong,
Didn't seem it to him wrong?
Anything he couldn't say,
Gave her kiss and rode away.

Some time passed, the Knight came back,
Came afoot and held a sack,
It was tired, thirsty flesh,
He had scars not deep but fresh.

‘Sweetheart Lady, take your glove,
I'm not worthy of your love.
I've not found any praise,
Any glory, any grace.

There's no battle, there's no fight,
There's no war, so you were right.
Over rivers, overseas,
I fought only with disease'.

‘My beloved and fair Knight,
You're my warrior of light,
I have waited, and you came,
It's a triumph, not a blame.

Look, my joy dissolves the pain,
You'll get well and strong again.
Have a rest, and food, and wine.
It's your victory, and mine.

It's our glory, our grace,
Our flight to endless space'.
