Walter Rocha de Figueiredo Biography

I'm Walter R. Figueiredo, a Brazilian married to a wonderful woman, with a daughter who's an architect and passionate about her profession. I hold a degree in Computer Science, a post-grad in Financial Planning and M&A from FGV, and a master's in Environmental Sciences and Remote Sensing. I love writing poems, chronicles, and articles. My goal is to provoke readers to think, creating value in their lives and contributing to a better world. I've been through tough times that pushed me to grow as a person. I've never been a victim— I love the saying: 'When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.' That's what builds us. I carry this phrase with me: 'Conviction in what we study and learn frees us from the captivity of convictions based only on what we've heard.' It's truly liberating.I enjoy reading comments on my texts—it helps me understand my readers better.)

Freedom Or Vanity

Ooooh! Freedom, where have you gone?
Has vanity claimed your throne?
She hunts proud souls
To swallow them whole.

Whoever yields to her sway,
Basks in arrogance's clay,
Gorges on lies so sweet,
Truth becomes bittersweet.

Discernment turns to torment,
Deceit takes full ascent,
Good becomes evil, evil good,
In the vain apostate's hood.

Despair knocks at the door,
Truth forgotten forevermore,
Vanity holds him tight,
In agony, he whispers for light.

Oh Vanity! Don't leave my side,
Come closer, I'll feed your pride,
I need to shine so bright,
Even if just for one night.

Who nurtures vanity's fire,
Will fall to arrogant mire,
Truth will flee far away,
And freedom you'll betray.

Seek truth with all your might,
Vanity will take flight,
Happiness will arrive,
And true freedom thrive.
