For now, of that still and quiescence,
Alone in a snow-covered wilderness,
A doe is basking in the sinkings
Of her foreleg into the firns.


There’s more space in the vase.
-When blossoms lessen, and the lights of winter
Negotiate through their limbs;
And the shrivelled petal oranges.


Commonly, a witty wink
Drops an empty can of coke. Rolling, and
Kicks a foot of table, and elsewhere bumps it again.
I can feel someone’s opening the window;
And women are sharing bread.
