I see a grave very small,
Inside it an infant is sleeping,
His soul is away but where is the soul,
I shall tell you, wait, and let me fly,
To the first sky,
I see the infant and I see a fairy,
Breast feeding the infant,
Singing a sweet melody,
What a lullaby is this!
I see a grave not too small,
Inside it a child is sleeping,
His soul is away but where is the soul,
I shall tell you, wait, and let me fly,
To the second sky,
I see the child and other children,
Making too much noise,
Playing hide and seek,
What a game is this!
I see a grave bigger than the two,
Inside it a boy is sleeping,
His soul is away but where is the soul,
I shall tell you, wait, and let me fly,
To the third sky,
I see the boy with a sweet lovely girl,
They are sharing snacks,
And cold drink,
What a drink is this!
I see again a grave is it,
Inside it a teenager is sleeping,
His soul is away but where is the soul,
I shall tell you, wait, and let me fly,
To the fourth sky,
I see the teenager keenly watching,
The forbidden fruit on the bosom of a tree,
With his keen thirsty eyes,
What a fruit is this!
I see another grave,
Inside it a naughty youth is sleeping,
His soul is away but where is the soul,
I shall tell you, wait, and let me fly,
To the fifth sky,
I see the youth with his old girl friend,
Desirous to taste the fruit,
But her beauty of refraining,
What a beauty is refraining!
I see one more grave,
Inside it a father is sleeping,
His soul is away but where is the soul,
I shall tell you, wait, and let me fly,
To the sixth sky,
A lovely woman with all her charms,
Relieving the father of his pains,
And hard working for the child,
What a child is this!
I see last of the graves,
It’s waiting yet for the old grandfather,
His soul is away but where is the soul,
I shall tell you, wait, and let me fly,
To the seventh sky,
I see nothing an Angel informed,
His soul is in his lovely grandchild,
What a grandchild is this!
His soul is in his lovely grandchild, What a grandchild is this! ......deep love of grand father to grandchild nicely envisioned. A beautiful poem I like most. Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful and interesting. (His soul is in his lovely grandchild, What a grandchild is this!) What a lovely 'grandchild' indeed!
Beautiful poem. The joy of being a grandparent is coming of life full circle. Truly their soul resides in the grand child. Read it at Bri's wall and loved it. Thanks for sharing.
“I see the youth with his old girl friend, Desirous to taste the fruit, But her decisive refrain, What a refrain is this! ” …. poor guy! but “refrain” is a verb. how about the noun: “refrainment” (in two places) ? or use poetic license and use refrain. I wasn’t sure myself if refrain could be used as a noun, but I think not (properly) . - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - refrainment noun Synonyms and Antonyms of REFRAINMENT the checking of one's true feelings and impulses when dealing with others [students in the class should show some generosity and refrainment when critiquing the work of their fellow photographers] Synonyms continence, discipline, discretion, inhibition, refrainment, repression, reserve, restraint, self-command, self-control, self-restraint, suppression Related Words command, control, mastery, possession; self-censorship, self-containment, self-denial, self-discipline, self-government, self-mastery, will, willpower; composure, self-poise, self-possession; aloofness, detachedness, distance; bashfulness, modesty, shyness; reticence, silence, taciturnity Near Antonyms self-abandonment, uninhibitedness; unrestrainedness; gratification, indulgence, overindulgence, self-indulgence; bluntness, candor, frankness; immoderacy, intemperance Antonyms disinhibition, incontinence, unconstraint - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - I am really liking the poem so far, and wonder how it shall end! “A lovely woman with all her charms, Relieving the father of his pains, And hard working for the child, What a child is this! ” …………………………….. IS THE “WOMAN” THE “FATHER’S” MOTHER? THE “FATHER” IS HER “CHILD”? this wasn’t very clear to me. the ending was a true surprise and (though I don’t believe it) I liked it. What a POEM is THIS! Very entertaining. I’ll send to MyPoemList and put it in the August showcase. thanks. bri :)
