A Signature Memory Poem by RoseAnn V. Shawiak

A Signature Memory

Opening this poetical mind onto new horizons, seeing the symbol
of our nation furling and unfurling in the silence of a twilight
rendition, touching hearts across America.

An energy being seen, vitally important in this day and age of
independence as it flows freely in every state, giving us all a
reminder that Veterans have given us the greatest gift of all.

Our freedom, standing tall, heroes one and all, so very humble,
never throwing it up to our faces what they went through or even
sacrificed, their families either.

Wonderful men and women who need a song just for themselves, a
signature memory that will never die or fade away, our children
pledging allegiance to the flag.

Learning the words to our National Anthem and other patriotic
songs, touching memories of flags draped over coffins of men
and women who gave the greatest sacrifice any person can give.

That of giving their lives to protect and serve our great nation,
what an honor has been given to We the People, American Veterans
tried and true, so proud to live here in the U.S.A., not ever want-
ing any enemies, either foreign or domestic to take over our nation.
