The man stood like a plank
in the biting frost
with one hand on the railing
along the lonely boulevard.

To seek is not to sin,
For then you must know what you want,
Like the parched stretches of the desert,
Which long for moist winds alone,

Your place lies at the end of this way,
This way turning around that fort,
Running along these fields,
As I chase your treads,

Desert Nights,
Your cool fragrance,
Carried by the winds,
