Lying on my back, gazing up the ceiling,
While waiting for sleep to devour me-
My visitor made his appearance.
The hooded figure was undeniably death,

I did not fear death
Nor did I fear to grant death
But there was no answer as to,
Why I was doing so.

A toddler I was once; crawling with pride,
Looking at the wonders of the world
Through my eyes clouded with innocence.
Evil I did not know then,

Ice: to fire
I'm merely a cold stone
But you were there to warm me.
I was shaken to the core;

How long could she keep running?
And why was she running?
She had answer for neither.

A Glimpse Into Reality

Lying on my back, gazing up the ceiling,
While waiting for sleep to devour me-
My visitor made his appearance.
The hooded figure was undeniably death,
I knew, as a chill ran down my spine.
The deadly eyes gaped at me
Darkness embraced my fright!
An abrupt gust of gale hissed in,
Humoring the rhythm of my heart.
Sleep won the battle against my eyes;
It was to sunshine, I later opened them
Then he was gone; and I realized what it was,
A reminder; a glimpse into the reality.
