An Eternal Flame

Churned in the ceaseless torrent of time,
Creating harmony in life's vast rhyme,
A tale unfolds of a radiant mind,
Whose words made human life refined.

A prince he was, of royal line,
Surrounded by pleasures, riches divine,
Yet bound by love's delusive chain,
Attached to wife and child in worldly domain.

Once, on a chariot, he rode afar,
Witnessed suffering—wounds and scars,
Old age, disease, and death he saw,
And pondered deeply on nature's law.

His heart grew heavy with human pain,
Disturbed by thoughts he could not restrain,
Seeking truth beneath life's disguise,
He turned within, with questioning eyes.

Days passed on in restless quest,
No answer yet, no inner rest,
The cause of sorrow remained unknown,
Leaving his troubled spirit alone.

Resolved at last with steadfast will,
To seek the truth beyond all ill,
A fire of purpose lit his soul,
To find the truth and make it whole.

At midnight's hour, in silence deep,
He left his home while others sleep,
Renouncing love, both dear and near,
Embracing solitude without fear.

Through forests wild and pathways long,
He journeyed on, determined and strong,
Diving deep in thought profound,
Where hidden truths are rarely found.

His mind once restless, now grew still,
Guided by unwavering will,
No desire remained, no worldly claim,
Only truth his guiding aim.

Beneath the Bodhi tree he stayed,
In meditation's silent shade,
Till wisdom dawned with radiant light,
Dispelling darkness from his sight.

Desire was conquered, suffering ceased,
His searching soul at last found peace,
A life of discipline, pure and wise,
Revealed the truth that never dies.

Casting aside the six inner foes,
With compassion his spirit glows,
Forgiveness and kindness lit his way,
Guiding humanity from night to day.

Thus was born the Buddha, enlightened and free,
A beacon of truth for all to see,
Spreading knowledge, calm and bright,
An eternal flame of wisdom's light.
