If Only You Understood

Wish you were here
If not for my sake
Then your own….
As I gaze at the beautiful lake
I hope to hold your hand one day
The shivers creep down my spine
As the sun sets in my eyes
your face slowly fades
Away into the darkness to come
Awaiting the most avoided times of my life
I let you slide out of my heart
Very harshly you pull out of my most precious place
My guts not able to hold the pain
And it shatters me into pieces
As I gaze at the beautiful lake
I hope for someone to put the pieces back together
The water drips on my shreds of glass
As the night takes an awakening turn
A face appears
To bring brightness into my life once again
Awaiting this moment with joy
I let him settle into my heart
And once again
I go through the same phase
Of pain…
Wish you to not be here
If not for your own sake
Then mine…
