Keeping One Promise

I made a promise
In kindergarten,
To a girl.
An angel to be precise.
By the tree,
With a twisted barrier,
And roots,
Rooted in time.
And it was there I made a promise.
She walked up to me
Under the blue playground equipment.
Her kingdom,
Was the very ground she walked.
The wind even carried her majestically.
Scents of lavender came with this angel.
Her words sounded like a harp,
“Are you related to coach Anderson? ”
Ask this angel,
And it was there,
A promise was in the making.
I would do anything to keep that promise.
