Wwhy do we call a place our home
Are we not made to simply roam
Surely we should all be free
To travel lands and cross the sea

Iknow a couple who live in spain
I think they moved to dodge the rain
In this land an umbrella is a quirk
And they dont take the train to work

A pheasant hatcher sat down in his field surveying all of his domain
He may just look a wee bit blank some say, or is he completely insane For his dogs they have kennels, his pheasants have hutches
Four walls and a roof in which to live with their clutches

The soft grass dampened by the dew
Forget-me-nots around my feet
Above my head the songbirds flew
Hear them whistle twitter and tweet

I've bought myself a kayak to float me on the sea
It doesn't cost too much to run, just a bag of chips and a mars bar
Some of these of course, well, they might just be for me
I'll splash about on the water, i dont need to go far

Did you ever sit upon a hilljust at the break of dawn
And watch a red deer hind suckle its wobbly fawn
And gaze upon the mists below like some strange mystic land
Or listen to the dawn chorus as if it were a band

Now the crofter is a happy man, or at least he should be
His tasty food comes from the land, and sometimes from the sea
Out each morning with his dog, mending fences, tending stock
Then perhaps he'll walk the hillside and gather in his flock

Going to their office desk, the 'Drive Thru'or the Store

Beach Girl

She walked so slowly along the sand,
Carrying sea shells in her hand,
Ithought i heard a mermaid sigh,
As this beauty tripped on bye,

She seemed to be without a care,
Asolitary woman with sun bleached hair,
When she approached her smile was warm,
As she strolled bye i watched her form,

The surf was lapping around her feet,
She seemed oblivious to the heat,
As she tiptoed past she hummed a tune,
Enjoying this hot day in june,

My pencils frantic as i sketch,
Those laughing eyes i'll never forget,
Yes, on that day she brought a glow,
This beach beauty i may never know,

Now just an image on my wall,
From a sunny day that i recall,
But from my memory she is fading fast,
Just an apparition from the past,

Perhaps she never had been real,
In witch case this is so surreal,
Who was this lassie suntanned and tall,
Why is she hanging on my wall.
