Timely Friendships

Feeling sad
Feeling caught up
Feeling a strengthening weakness
Feeling most of all…fed up
Thought I found a friend I can hold on to forever
It’s the unexpected friendships
Their the ones that stay forever
When you don’t have to always be together
But when you are…
It’s like the time of your life
The friendships you expect
Are the temporary ones
But they may just end exactly when they should
I think our time is up
I think it’s time to say good-bye
Or is a “good” bye after all?
Once I turn around and walk away
There’s no turning back
When I’m done being your friend,
I’m done
We can still smile and say hi as we pass
But that’s it
A clean cut loose
Even if I’m alone
It may be better for me
Than it is to be with you
But can I handle being alone?
We’re about to find out…
