Brian McMurdo Poems

A messenger wakes the beast deep inside
I feel him rearing his ugly head in my gut
He grows as he flows through my veins
Every muscle tenses, longing
...

Dancing moving fighting
Movement in the darkness
Pulsing like my heart
Yet I am still numb…

Who do you think you are
To steal my life like that?
The sight of you makes my blood boil
My fists clench at your words
...

every look
every touch
is tainted with my
memories and fears
...

Oh the irony
Of invisibility

The Beast

A messenger wakes the beast deep inside
I feel him rearing his ugly head in my gut
He grows as he flows through my veins
Every muscle tenses, longing
To hit, to break, to destroy
As he takes control of my mind
I hear his harsh voice crushing my logic
His crimson eyes burn out through mine
And the calm before the storm sweeps
Over my body as my thoughts clear
I feel his power in every fibre of my being
Raging to burst and hurt
I try to fight but it’s no use
I just let Anger run his course
And fear for those who woke him
When he’s reaped his trail of pain
He vanishes and Despair, she wakes
