In the twilight in the paddock to where i am near
The Lane Brothers black angus cows bellowing to their calves i do hear
Their darkness in the twilight make them impossible to see
Though they are less than three hundred metres from me

They cannot understand those who do not like them since they do think that they are great
But on their superior attitude on their dealings with some people some foes of course they does create
There are many self important people in every village and city and town
Who look up to the material high achievers and on others do choose to look down

The Burke brothers Tommy and Brendan they may have known a better day
They played Gaelic Football for Millstreet before time on them had a say
In the green and gold of the Finnowsiders some marvelous games they did play
Good memories last a whole lifetime and only in death fade away

For Ireland and for west Cork and the gold and white and green
They wrapped themselves in glory those young men from Skibbereen
In Olympic lightweight rowing a silver medal they won
For brothers Gary and Paul O' Donovan this was a job well done

The Burke brothers Brendan and Tommy as Gaelic Footballers were amongst Millstreet's best
And they were not found to be wanting when they were put to the test
Two of the sporting heroes of famous Millstreet Town
It can be said about them that they never did leave their Club down.
