That night the moon didn't rise
That night the stars didn't blaze
That night the wind didn't blow
And all movement remained low

Right from the day of my birth
The drum beat of battle resound in my ears
The vibration is felt in the core of my heart
‘‘but I am innocent'' I thought "and need not fight"

Where ever you go
Whatever you sow
I just need you to know
For you I would climb mountains
...

Beware her appearance
Beware her gaze
Be watchful the way she walks
The movement of her waist
...

I'm that man in prison
A wounded dove in cage
Innocent and guiltless
Punished for a soup I never licked
...

What have we got here?
Elders whose gathering brings us fear!
No! the nations burden they claim they loyally bear
They are the branches which make the nations tree
...

Day and night we have laboured
But in harvest we are not favored
Like bullet from a gun
Our harvests are all gone
...

Innocent and guiltless I am

Yet for no offence of mine
