The Reality Of My Fatherland

Many unsaid words all in my head,
Little head sometimes I wonder how you manage to cope with all these,
Eyes will see, ears would listen yet the mouth will still be shut,

For peace to reign many words have been left unsaid, and this has contributed greatly to the downfall of our Country's dignity,

People protest only when it's not their tribe, religion or region that's on seat,

Little head I ask, will you continue to accommodate these?

Our heroes past fought fearlessly and tirelessly to ensure peace and co-existence of our different colors and beliefs,

They managed to establish system and structures that would accommodate everybody despite our different colors, age, religion and region,

But what did we do to this set pace? of course our quest for power and our inability to subordinate personal interest to general interest wouldn't allow us to see one another as human,

Hmmm, the youths are the leaders of tomorrow, they say,

But the young folks have become worst as the day passes; just like the palm wine becomes stronger as the day breaks,

Ooh! little do they know that life is just like a candle in the wind, it can go off at anytime!

A day would come that all these we fight for; riches, positions and good life will not matter aftermath, we shall leave them and go beneath six feet,

But is quite unfortunate that in my fatherland we failed to understand this reality.
