Charlie Odist Poems

Don't get caught in the whirlwind of misconception
Australia is not the world of Inception;
a dream within a dream, land of milk and honey,
place where people have fearless relations with money.

When you find yourself
I will be right here
Waiting for the day
when joy's elation sheds a tear

Four shots left in a glass
My eyes grew grey as it looked past
the face of an endless sky
Her beauty begs the question why

The Great Misconception

Don't get caught in the whirlwind of misconception
Australia is not the world of Inception;
a dream within a dream, land of milk and honey,
place where people have fearless relations with money.
For the African struggle will never be taken from me.
I'm about to tread on a land where friends and relations know me.
A destination that knows not my darkest hour
While you relax, I ponder in the shower.

A didgeridoo resonates above the mindful sound of a vuvuzela
Where faces smile, tears dropp as foreign as Venezuela.
How could a man ever understand the cries of another?
How could a woman ever bare the pregnancy of her mother?
Each translation of a page is owned by the reader
An illustration created with the hand of a feeder
Naivety given to me, marked by a person `who knows better`
Yet you scream 'Slave labour! ' with a Vietnamese-made sweater.

No! I promise nothing, like the land does me
So all I have to do, is hold her hand and watch the sea
as it engulfs the land through an airplane window.
His eyes have promise, my mind cannot know.
Eb and flow within a mind that was en-caved by mass hysteria
Swatting away locusts, battling mosquitoes, fearing malaria.
A poem within a poem, I roam within a mind
And turn to her again, knowing somehow I'll be fine
