Shelter Of Duplicity

Darkness surrounds and

Envelops her as the walls,

Her shelter of duplicity,

Withstand the advances

Of wanting to know her more deeply,

Disrupting the stillness she has built.

Most surrender, but some

Are not contented,

Seeking a way in,

Curious what they might find,

Despite the resistance.

She recalls those six words, as

The memories plague her,

Thinking to herself, "Not again".

From the top of the wall

The arrows rain down on the few left.

It's hopeless.

She exists to cease.
