In your spirit, I mean.

Is there a light — do you see a light?

Driving along the interstate
into the setting sun,
Making a fist of my hand
I block the blinding disk.
...

Sleeping in down
close to the ground
Is not far removed
from sleeping under the ground

“Even the wind and the sea obey Him.”
And I?
I keep on blowing and tossing.
As if He still sleeps in the hold!

Little purple cups appear in the snow

And yellow faces dance in the wood.
Then golden blazes make a fence
And cherry blossom fountains sway.

a little warm sunshine
makes everything stretch
green blades out of brown earth
red buds out of brown twigs
...

Offers a ledge
At eternity’s edge.
Come sit a while

At the beach

At the beach Ocean and Earth wrestle
Ocean draws back, roars and pounds
...

I hesitate to speak
venture first to seek

I broach a subject
...

After a hearty “hello” and one quick breath
Comes the heartfelt farewell and quiet tears
As we whirl with the earth
And dance through the years.
