Clyde Cruz Poems

A long drive, hour and a half.5 in the morning.
Alone on my side of the road, a hundred cars on the other.
Am I going the wrong way?
They're going somewhere.

take them from farms far away and leave innocence intact.
the clash of knives and steel, skins, muscles, and organs be packed.
cattle treads onward, blood, feces, and fouls.
march on, march on, this be the slaughterhouse.

the rain falls from the sky, the mountain accepts, the water erodes the weakest of soil.
the mountains spoke, "I say let it rain,
let it carve the titans of Earth"

Many take shelter from pain
isolation, rage, ropes, bullets
quick and unenduring
yet some found shelter in metal plate filled rooms

Tired, my head low, my body aching, I was ready to go. Then a cold wind hit me. I was surrounded by a mist pushing my consciousness within. It was then I felt the warmth of my breath and realized the fire within. It's still there, no matter how small. And I fear it will die if I stop now. I still have more to give. And tonight…
Tonight, I will set the world on fire.

you have entered the trap room kid

don't be like others that goes in and out

A long drive, hour and a half.5 in the morning.
Alone on my side of the road, a hundred cars on the other.
Am I going the wrong way?
They're going somewhere.
'If this road runs out, I'll turn behind them.'

But then appeared 3 cars behind me.
I don't feel so alone anymore.

But one turned a corner, the next on another until I was alone again on my side of the road.
They didn't have to drive as far it seems.
On houses I passed, cars stayed untouched. Either arrived or never started.
A car came in front of me. The first one in a while.

But he sped ahead of me, I tried to catch up to him, but I couldn't.
The car gone on a curb. Vague tracks on the road.
This drive ends wrapped on a tree, maybe a sunrise.

But the fog lifted on the world and the poet. I played the music back on.
